So far so good, beautiful knife with a very sharp edge. Love everything about it. Only negative I have is that it was a gift and the nice box wasn't protected and got damaged during delivery.. still 5 star for the knife

Pretty spectacular. I purchased this knowing it would be a premium price, and hopefully a premium item. Damascus pattern is surprisingly uniform, almost identical to the item page’s photos… but the handle is the star, catching light beautifully at different angles. Also 10/10 weight balance in the hand. Outstanding work.

Everything about this knife says quality. The packaging is very nice, some attention to detail has really gone into that. The knife is very well crafted, from the intricate detailing on the blade to the well-balanced handle. It all comes together in one premium product. Altogether, I do like this knife, it is well presented and very well made. Yes, you could probably buy a cheaper knife that does the same job, but it wouldn't look as cool. It's certainly a talking point at our dinner table. Highly recommended.

Let's get my one gripe out of the way first. The knife I received did not have such a pronounced pattern on the blade as the knife in the listing. It does not make any difference to the way the knife cuts as far as I'm aware. My knife does have a pattern (see images) but it's quite faint. Upon opening the box you are presented with the knife, a Miyamoto 8-inch Damascus chef knife made with 67 layers of folded/pressed high-carbon steel. The weight of the knife is 181g. The handle is made from two parts, Canadian maple wood and blue resin, IMO adding a stunning look to this knife. The handle was quite comfortable in my hand and allowed great control while thin-slicing tomatoes. Using the knife made short work of thin-slicing veggies. I found the knife has great balance, but take care as this blade is razor sharp. The knife has a blade sleeve to protect it and you when not in use. Make no mistake, this knife is IMO of the highest quality with a razor-sharp edge and worthy of a recommendation. It takes the star position on my magnetic knife rack. Even with the less pronounced pattern, this knife still gets the full 5 stars from me.

A very sharp knife. It's well weighted and the handle feels good in the hand. The blade is very sharp but not at all flimsy. I really like the look of the resin in the handle. The blade has a wavy pattern too. The knife comes well packaged in a presentation box and also comes with a protective sleeve for storage.

The 'Miyamoto Japanese Chef Knife 8 Inch Steel 67 Layers Damascus Kitchen Knife, Ultra Sharp with Resin Handle' arrived in a plastic-wrapped presentation box. I do like the way these knives are presented in their own box that has a magnetic closure to the lid. Often I have seen knives that are supposedly sharp, but this knife truly is sharp and easily passes the paper cut test. If you know how to test for a blunt blade using an angled fingernail, this blade stays where it is placed. The knife looks to be well made and it is tip-heavy. I was unsure about the handle at first as I have a preference for wooden-handled knives, but I found it to be secure and comfortable in my large hands. How long the blade will hold its sharp edge is currently unknown, as is how well the blade re-sharpens. The one thing that disappoints me is the absence of care and maintenance instructions to keep this knife in its best condition. I would like to see a complete set of knives in this style, and with a suitably matched wooden knife block, as some of the plastic ones look cheap.

A very well-crafted knife which is just something I'd like to keep locked away and admire rather than use! It comes in a very well-presented box - it does come with a number of edge protectors which I had removed prior to photographing so it should get to you safe and sound. It also includes a full blade protector which fits with the knife inside the box. The knife itself is quite lightweight but feels solid to hold. I'll assume it is half-tang as I see no mention of it being full-tang anywhere. Sharpness is great and slices through everything I have reluctantly thrown at it so far with ease. It is apparently rated at 62 HRC, which is great but not impressive - higher-end knives would be in the 56-58 range as they would be easier to sharpen. This one is more difficult to sharpen but retains the sharpness for a much longer period of time. I do love the resin handle, looks very cool - a unique selling point of the knife that drew me in as I already have several 'Damascus' pattern-style ones. Overall, would make an excellent gift due to its great presentation. Would recommend!

This knife comes in a decent presentation box. The knife looks fantastic. I was surprised at how light it was. Not necessarily a negative, but I expected it to be weightier. The patterned blade looks stunning, as does the maple wood and blue resin handle. I can't fault the build quality or the quality of the materials. The knife is very sharp and perfect for chopping veg quickly and cleanly. The only reason for rating it 4 stars rather than 5 is value for money: at virtually £50 at the time of ordering, you can buy similar quality knives for less. But if the price drops on this knife, then you're looking at a 5-star knife.

The knife feels very good in the hand for a smooth action, very sharp and looks great. I generally only use one knife when I'm cooking and preparing and this should be a very good replacement for my old and very worn sandoko knife which is probably 12 years old. I would recommend this knife.
